Grammy Winning Duo Mary Mary Appears on VOA
Three-time Grammy Award winning gospel music duo Mary Mary appeared on VOA’s Border Crossings Thursday, telling host Larry London they “smiled so hard they had headaches” after performing at the White House in February.
Mary Mary, made up of sisters Erica and Tina Campbell, told Larry they are very excited about their upcoming tour and new CD, titled Something Big, which is scheduled for release on March 29th.
They said they recently made changes in their management and “have a lot of fresh energy.” The two say the message of their upcoming 11-song CD is “that of inspiration,” because it encourages and gives people hope.
Asked about the highlights of their career, the sisters told Larry that winning a Grammy award was “huge,” but that it was “completely a highlight” when President Obama invited them to the White House in February to perform in honor of music legend Stevie Wonder.

In addition to their new CD, Mary Mary says a six-city U.S. tour with BeBe and CeCe Winans is planned for the coming months and they want to do a world tour as well. Asked if they had plans to emphasize pop music, the two said they are going to continue to do what they have been doing, as long as it makes people want to dance and it is something that grabs their hearts.
