Alhurra’s Congressional correspondent Rana Abtar interviewed Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) regarding the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11th attacks. When asked what the U.S. has learned in the past 10 years, Senator Cardin said, “I think we have learned a lot since the attack on our country Sept. 11, 2001. We have learned to be smarter, we’ve used intelligence information, we’ve used technology to make our country safer from attacks from extremists. ”
Sen. Cardin said that the revolutions taking place in the Middle East demonstrates that people in the region want democratic institutions. “I think it is all very positive and obviously the United States wants to be helpful as countries go through transitions to more democratic institutions, “ he said. “The key will be for the international community to come together to help countries grow so there is an economic future for the citizens.”
Sen. Cardin’s interview is part of Alhurra’s more than 50 hours of programming dedicated to the commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11th attacks.
