BBG Governor Mulhaupt Focuses on Impact at International Researcher Meeting
(PRAGUE, Czech Republic) Research directors from international broadcasters including BBC, Deutsche Welle, Radio France International, and Radio Netherlands Worldwide as well as many of the broadcasters’ key research partners gathered at RFE/RL’s broadcast headquarters in Prague from November 6-9 for the annual meeting of the Conference of International Broadcasters’ Audience Research Services (CIBAR).
BBG Governor Dennis Mulhaupt outlined the BBG’s commitment to systematic impact measurement across the agency during a keynote speech at the conference, which focused on the topic of “Making and Assessing Impact in A Rapidly Changing World: The Contribution of Research.” Meeting participants discussed best practices for defining and measuring impact, with BBG Director of the Office of Strategic Planning and Performance Measurement Bruce Sherman using the opportunity to present the BBG’s new strategic plan to the group. The group also reviewed current trends in social media research and defined action steps to be accomplished moving forward during the three day meeting.
In addition to Governor Mulhaupt and Bruce Sherman, the BBG was represented at CIBAR by Senior Strategist Paul Marszalek, Research Manager Leah Ermarth, IBB Research Director Bill Bell, and RFA Research Director Betsy Henderson. RFE/RL’s Research Director and outgoing CIBAR chairman Paul Tibbitts served as host for the event.
