Springfield, VA — Alhurra’s ground-breaking program Rayheen ala Feen? (Arabic for “Where Are We Going?”) is being broadcast in primetime on the entertainment/news channel Al Hayat-1 (red channel), one of the most popular channels in Egypt. Rayheen ala Feen? follows the day-to-day lives of five young Egyptians as they adjust to a post-revolution Egypt. The first season of the Alhurra-produced program began airing on Al Hayat-1 on Feb. 3rd and continues every Sunday at 11 p.m. (all times Cairo time) for the span of the 13-episode series.
“Rayheen ala Feen? on Al Hayat exposes tens of millions of additional Egyptian viewers to Alhurra’s high-quality programming. The program takes an unfiltered look at the issues facing Egyptian youth such as the economy, freedom of speech and the rights of women,” stated MBN President Brian Conniff. MBN manages and operates Alhurra and Radio Sawa. “Additionally, the Alhurra logo on Al Hayat’s screen will increase awareness for the network.”

Rayheen ala Feen? follows the lives of Islam, Mario, Sondos, Zoghby and Hanan as they come to terms with the Revolution and where Egypt is heading in the future. They each represent different religious, political and socio-economic perspectives. The program highlights their individuality; as well as their interactions with one another. Humorous, dramatic and poignant, Rayheen ala Feen? tells the stories of these young Egyptians as they go through their everyday lives so that viewers can know where are they going.
The series originally aired on Alhurra in Sept. 2012 and is currently being repeated in primetime on Saturdays on Alhurra. The network is in pre-production for the next season of Rayheen ala Feen?.
Al Sabah newspaper stated, “Alhurra introduced a new trend in this field…The most appealing element about this show is that it focuses on a complete community by highlighting the lives of individuals who belong to various classes and social backgrounds.”
Al Shabab magazine wrote,“(Rayheen ala Feen?) tracks the lives of the young cast members in their own environment and shows their real opinions without any omissions. All of them serve as a mirror that reflects the reality within the Egyptian community.”
The Al Hayat network consists of four channels (color coded – movies, series, entertainment/public affairs and entertainment/news). According to recent research, the Al Hayat network has a reach of about 75 percent (approximately 43 million) of adult Egyptians on a weekly basis.
Alhurra’s coverage of the Egyptian revolution won the People’s Choice Award in the Association for International Broadcasting’s 2011 Media Excellence Awards. Surveys by research companies such as ACNielsen show that Alhurra has a weekly reach of more than 20 million adults.
