BassAwards Recognizes Alhurra On-Air Promotions
Springfield, Virginia —BassAwards 2013 announced that Alhurra Television won the Bronze Award for the on-air promotion of Alhurra Files in the Best Programme Branding Design category. Alhurra Files showcases the best investigative documentaries that air on Alhurra weekly. The promo was produced by Alhurra’s Senior On-Air Promotions Producer Haider Najeeb.
“This award demonstrates the excellent work of Alhurra’s promotions department. The creative and talented team produces compelling promos that draw viewers’ interest to Alhurra’s quality programs,” stated Brian Conniff, President of MBN. MBN manages and operates Alhurra and Radio Sawa.
The BassAwards is the international award of Broadcast Design. It rewards professionalism, design excellence and high-profile broadcast from around the world. It ranges from film to television, where the visual design becomes a competitive advantage within the industry.
Last year, Alhurra’s promotions department won the Silver award from PromaxBDA Arabia. Alhurra was granted the Silver Award for Best Use of Arabic Typography for the opening sequence of Alhurra-Iraq’s Eighth Column. The program’s opening sequence use of Arabic typography was selected for its originality and effectiveness.
Recent surveys by research companies such as ACNielsen show that Alhurra has a weekly reach of more than 20 million adults. Alhurra is operated by the non-profit corporation “The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc.” (MBN). MBN is financed by the U.S. Government through a grant from the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), an independent federal agency. The BBG serves oversight and as a firewall to protect the professional independence and integrity of the broadcasters.
