André Mendes Named One of HITEC’s Top 100
André Mendes, Chief Information Officer and Director of Engineering and Technical Services for the BBG, has been named one of the top 100 most influential and distinguished Hispanic professionals in the information technology industry by the Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC). The 2014 HITEC 100 was announced September 10 and honors awardees based on levels of achievement, scope of responsibility, and the positions they’ve attained within their respective companies.
“André’s dedication to excellence shows in everything he does, from strengthening our core technology infrastructure to his strategic thinking about next-generation delivery systems,” said International Broadcasting Bureau Director Richard Lobo. “The agency and those who depend on our networks for news are served well by his leadership and expertise.”
Under Mendes, the agency migrated to the cloud operating Microsoft Office 365 in order to increase uptime, reduce risk and cut infrastructure costs, and standardized the agency’s content management systems making content sharing more efficient and saving the agency approximately $1million.
The HITEC 100 is a yearly list that began in 2008 and highlights exceptional IT professionals who are role models for future generations of Hispanic IT professionals. André Mendes was one of 360 nominees this year.
The HITEC 100 Awards Dinner and Gala will be held Thursday November 14, 2013 during the HITEC Q4 IT Leadership Summit in Palo Alto, California.
