Governor Armstrong Travels to California for BBG Outreach
BBG board member Matt Armstrong visited the Voice of America bureau in Los Angeles, spoke with students of public diplomacy at two universities, and met with the leadership of The Los Angeles Times during a November 21-22 California trip.
During his meeting with VOA Bureau Chief Mike O’Sullivan, Armstrong discussed the bureau’s role and capabilities.
Armstrong’s agenda also included meetings with students and faculty members at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Southern California (USC), where he is an alumnus and former lecturer.
At The Los Angeles Times, Armstrong discussed the paper’s challenges of delivering news and information to as well as continuing engagement with today’s online audiences. The BBG’s networks continue to face similar challenges as they expand digitally in countries where more and more people use online, digital and social media.
While in Los Angeles, Armstrong also met with Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton, a BBG board member from July 2010 to May 2013, who served as the Board’s interim presiding governor for more than a year.
