VOA Indonesia Celebrates Two Years with Award Winning CMS
Two years ago today, Voice of America’s Indonesia Service became the first of VOA’s language services to launch a website powered by the Pangea content management system. Pangea, which was created by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, proved to be so useful, it now serves as the content management infrastructure behind all of the websites of Voice of America, Radio and TV Martí, Radio Sawa, and Alhurra television, as well as RFE/RL.
“Pangea is our 4th CMS at VOA and by far the best,” said Martha Townes, the Internet Managing Editor for VOA’s East Asia and Pacific Division. “With new features added monthly we are able to keep pace with news delivery technology that is rapidly changing. Our markets run the gamut from emerging markets with slow connectivity to sophisticated cities with broadband speed and cutting edge devices. Pangea allows us to manage our content from one platform and deliver it to a wide variety of platforms from desktop to mobile phones to YouTube.”
Each day, more than 1.5 million unique users visit a Pangea-supported BBG news site. These sites operate in 60 languages, for audiences in 230 different countries around the world. For each of these sites, Pangea not only provides the content management support, but also the front-end design and user experience.
The award winning CMS, which supports more than 150 news sites across the BBG networks, integrates all forms of multimedia news content onto a single platform. And as the number of mobile users continues to rise, the Pangea team is now working to ensure each site is responsive for optimized performance and display on mobiles and tablets.
