Health Reporting

February 2014

Halima Sharif, an expert on women’s health in Tanzania, worked with VOA’s dedicated female reporters to explore ways to better reach young girls in Tanzania with news and information. The training was part of the Je Nifanyeje Project, a girl empowerment program which airs on radio twice a week. The program has been a springboard for public discussions about girls’ health. Je Nifanyeje, which means “What Shall I Do?” in Swahili has large audiences around the country. It is funded by USAID.
