Washington Post editorial: A way to get real news to Russia
The Washington Post editorial board published on February 12th a piece about the launch of Current Time, the new 24-hour Russian-language television network created as a collaboration between RFE/RL and VOA.
The editorial explains that the new network is not meant to mirror existing Russian-backed “disinformation outlets” but, instead, to present Russian audiences with unbiased news. The piece does this while also acknowledging the challenges Current Time must surmount to reach audiences “that have been fed a steady diet of anti-Americanism in recent years.”
