Niger: Television and radio reporting

August 2017

Journalists were trained on VOA principles of television and radio reporting, writing, editing and production skills, interviewing techniques, reporting in hostile environment tips, and effective use of social and new media for audience expansion, all of which are conducted using mobile devices.

The program trained 16 journalists who chose topics with guidance from the trainers to learn the VOA charter, journalistic code, ethics and principles, and technique-oriented sessions.

All participants completed a survey at the conclusion of the workshop. On the evaluations, many participants noted as particularly useful the sessions on an overview of journalism, principles of reporting, production techniques and the use of social media.
