MBN marks President Trump’s first year in office with special coverage
On Saturday, January 20, Alhurra Television and Radio Sawa will mark President Donald Trump’s first year in office with special live coverage from their studios in Virginia and across the Middle East.
Alhurra Television will preempt its regular programming to provide viewers with the special, President Trump: One Year in Office, which features live interviews with analysts and experts and updates from the channel’s correspondents at the White House, Congress, Pentagon, and from the Arab world.
In addition to its live coverage, the television network will broadcast two series of reports from the United States and the Middle East. The first covers the challenges President Trump faces such as fighting terrorism and defeating ISIS; new strategies about Afghanistan and North Korea; his relationship with Congress and the media; and the effect his tenure has on economy. The second takes a close look at the U.S. policy toward the region; the U.S.-Israeli relations in light of the decision to move the American embassy to Jerusalem; the relations with the Palestinians; the relationship with Egypt; the liberation of the Syrian city of Raqqa and the Iraqi city of Mosul from ISIS with the help of the U.S.
Leading up to the anniversary, Alhurra produced a series of in-depth reports on President Trump’s voters from Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. The series followed a number of electors from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds and gauged their opinion on the state of the country today, and whether they still support the president.
Radio Sawa will broadcast comprehensive coverage with live updates and reports from correspondents in Washington D.C., New York, Ramallah, Jerusalem, Baghdad, Cairo, Istanbul, Paris and London. It includes reaction to the way the Administration dealt with security, terrorism and the defeat of ISIS. The coverage highlights the U.S. new policies towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, North Korea, Russia, Iran and Turkey. It reports on the U.S.’s relations with Europe, particularly with France and the United Kingdom, and the challenges regarding climate change and security.
