BBG names Tomás P. Regalado to lead Office of Cuba Broadcasting
Miami — The BBG is pleased to announce that Tomás P. Regalado has been appointed Director of the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (OCB). The Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), John F. Lansing, announced the appointment during the Board’s public meeting today.
“It is my pleasure to welcome Tomás to the BBG family,” said Lansing. “I’m confident that Tomás is the right person to continue to strengthen and develop the innovative programming being done at OCB. Tomás’s extensive experience makes him perfectly suited to guide the network into its next level of growth.”
For over twenty years, Regalado has served the people of Miami as a journalist, City Commissioner and two-term Mayor. He is a known advocate for objective journalism and is deeply knowledgeable about the unique impact of OCB in Cuba and among the Cuban diaspora. His unique experience and background will be called upon to build targeted news programs and extend the Martí’s reach.
“Tomás joins the agency at an exciting time. We are seeing tremendous returns on our reforms. Ground-breaking programs are increasingly popular with our target audiences in Cuba,” said Kenneth Weinstein, BBG Board Chairman. “The Board and I are confident that Tomás is the right person to build on the momentum at OCB and to continue delivering value for the American people.”
“It am truly honored to be able to work for the people in Cuba – bringing them up-to-date with current information on the real situation in Cuba, as well as news from around the world,’ said Mr. Regalado. “I’m looking forward to implementing the mission of the Office of Cuban Broadcasting and joining its wonderful team.”
