Alhurra TV short-listed for International Channel of the Year

Washington, D.C. — Alhurra Television was nominated as International Channel of the Year for the annual AIBs awards, a first for the network. The announcement was made earlier this week.
This honor comes nearly one year after the television network launched the largest transformation in its 15-year history, completely changing the look and feel of Alhurra. In November 2018, Alhurra more than doubled its newscasts to 12 hours per day and updated its look with new sets and graphic elements. Additionally, Alhurra completely revamped its programming schedule with shows dedicated to addressing reform and promoting critical thinking.
“I am especially proud of this nomination. It speaks highly to all of the hard work and dedication of the very talented team at Alhurra,” state MBN President Amb. Alberto Fernandez. MBN manages and oversees Alhurra Television.
Other nominees for the International Channel of the Year include CNN International, Al Jazeera English and Iran International TV. The winners will be announced on November 6th in London.
Sponsored by the Association for International Broadcasting, the AIBs are an international awards for factual video, audio and interactive productions. This marks the 15th year of these independent, influential and respected awards.
MBN is non-profit corporate media outlet financed by the U.S. government through a grant from U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), an independent federal agency. The USAGM serves as a firewall to protect the professional independence and integrity of the broadcasters.About MBN
