Mohammad Ilyas Dayee
The artist illustrated Mohammed Ilyas Dayee in the wet media drawing technique. A piece of watercolor paper is completely immersed in water and then worked on with permanent inks in both wet and dry stages. Gradually an image is worked up in successive sessions.
This project is inspired by photography, but not limited to it. The top image is a reproduction of a wonderful photo of Mohammed striding towards two figures in the desert. The bottom image is a reconstruction of what he must of looked like to the two men that he was approaching. It is a portrait of a confident journalist, at the top of his game, exploring the world around him and looking for the story.
