This three-day workshop underscores the media’s role in public health education and the promotion of public awareness about polio. The workshop outcomes include increased media coverage of polio and routine immunizations and challenges. It also offered participants an understanding of how to counter myths and “fake news” about polio eradication and immunizations. Journalists are exposed to best and ethical practices in reporting on polio and other health issues, and provided story ideas, expert sources for covering polio, immunizations and public health campaigns. Training participants have created a network of sources for health reporting in Afghanistan & Pakistan.
