Workshop for affiliates in Lafia, Nigeria
This three-day workshop broadened journalists’ knowledge of current health issues, improved their understanding of emerging disease trends, and enhanced their skills and ability to report about health in a more impactful manner. Participants learned new skills on how to research and humanize their stories, counter fake news and find and utilize credible data. They also learned how to leverage their social media and professional networks to cultivate and use high-level expert sources as well as stay informed and focused.
Trainees gained knowledge in health journalism ethics, learned skills in open and undercover investigative reporting, and were emboldened to interrogate and verify their information even from expert sources.
