Haiti: Freedom of press
The USAGM Office of Business Development offered training in Port Prince, Haiti, on August 4th, 2022.
During a 90-minute session, attorney Gedeon Delva spoke to 12 news directors, editors, reporters, and producers on the role of Haitian journalists, editorial values, balance, and objectivity, in a troubled society.
Professor Delva focused on ethical standards and practices of journalism in very specific cases such as corruption, security, and politics.
The participants exchanged experiences and offered solutions to the current situation faced by journalists in Haiti. The session ended with a debate and exchange of contact information so participants can communicate with each other as a security measure in future coverage.
