Alhurra.com named A Webby Honoree

The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences recognized Alhurra.com’s profile of Nasser, the first openly gay Qatari, in the 27th Annual Webby Awards. This honor is reserved for the top 20 percent of the nearly 14,000 entrants.
In this moving report, Nasser shares his experience and decision to move to the U.S. to live freely. He also addressed the oppression against the LGBTQ+ community in the Gulf. He talked about his challenges and not understanding what made him different as a young man, as well as reactions from society to those perceived differences. The report, honored in the Best Video-Diversity, Equality and Inclusion category, sparked debate online about LGBTQ+ rights in the region and the world.
