HAITI | Mentoring and Team Building

To promote the exchange of information about American society, values, and experiences with the Haitian public, the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince partnered with the Voice of America (VOA) Creole Service to host a media workshop for local journalists.
Held on February 26, 2025, the 90-minute virtual session was led by Sandra D. Lemaire, chief of VOA’s Creole Service for Haiti, and brought together over a dozen media professionals.
During the “Mentoring and Team Building” session, Lemaire guided managers in identifying their passions and strengths to build highly functional, autonomous, and efficient teams. She also emphasized essential leadership qualities, including fostering strong relationships, earning team trust, and embracing innovation. Participants explored new tools and strategies to keep their newsrooms dynamic and adaptable in an evolving media landscape.
The workshop concluded with a proposal to continue collaboration with the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) and VOA through future sessions on topics such as Artificial Intelligence and Social Media Monetization.
