The Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS), conducted by the Office of Personnel Management, is a tool that measures employees’ perceptions of whether, and to what extent, conditions characterizing successful organizations are present in their agencies. Survey results provide valuable insight into the challenges agency leaders face in ensuring the federal government has an effective civilian workforce and how well they are responding.
2020 survey results
USAGM analyzes the results of the annual survey each year and determines strategies and sets goals to improve workforce engagement and satisfaction. The past year provided some unusual challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic that delayed the survey by four months and significantly changed the content of the survey. Many of the usual items and indices that comprise the annual survey were left off in favor of COVID-related questions. USAGM will use the results of the survey along with two additional internal surveys to reshape how we conduct our work. As a result of the agency’s successful transition to maximum telework during the pandemic, USAGM has launched a cross-agency team to examine increased telework and explore remote work possibilities. We will continue to explore the FEVS data and propose additional actions that could benefit the agency and our workforce.
