RFE/RL video journalist wounded in Mosul
Radio Farda freelancer, Rasool Mahmood, was seriously injured on October 20 while reporting from the front lines of the Iraqi Army’s campaign to drive IS out of the city of Mosul. Mahmood is now in a hospital in Ankara, Turkey, where doctors are trying to save the sight in one of his eyes. Our appreciation to all who have supported Mahmood via a GoFundMe campaign set up by Radio Farda colleagues.
Mahmood was traveling with Peshmerga soldiers about 25 kilometers from the center of Mosul when the attack happened. He sustained broken bones and the likely loss of one eye. He is currently being treated at a hospital in Erbil.
